BENEFITS OF A GIS

GIS plays a key role in each and every field which is applied to. the following are some of its benefits among others; 1. Better storage and updating of data 2. More efficient information retrieval 3. More efficient production of information products 4. Rapid analysis of alternatives 5. The value of better decisions

Characteristis of remote sensing

1. It allows change detection 2.It provides a multipurpose data 3. It takes a wide area coverage 4. Cost effective 5. Suitable for difficult areas

HOW REMOTE SENSING WORKS FOR VEGETATION, SOIL AND WATER

Spectral Reflectance Properties Remote sensing is based on the measurement of reflected or emitted radiation from different bodies. Objects having different surface features reflect or absorb the sun's radiation in different ways. The reflectance properties of an object depend on the particular material and its physical and chemical state (e.g. moisture), the surface roughness as well as the geometric circumstances (e.g. incidence angle of the sunlight). The most important surface features are colour, structure and surface texture. These differences make it possible to identify different earth surface features or materials by analysing their spectral reflectance patterns or spectral signatures. These signatures can be visualised in so called spectral reflectance curves as a function of wavelengths. The figure in the right column shows typical spectral reflectance curves of three basic types of Earth features: green vegetation, dry bare soil and clear water. The spectral reflectance

Elnino Watch

the Kenyan government is working tirelessly on how to curb the predicted elnino rains all over the counties. Nandi county is now conducting meetings with the members of the public to coutin them on possible areas that might be flooded.    my question to you is, what is your county government doing to curb the predicted situation?
